Bangladesh’s socio-economic progress has been remarkable, marked by significant advancements across key developmental sectors. Impressive indicators, such as sustained GDP growth and a notable reduction in poverty, reflect the nation’s steady march toward prosperity. The government’s strong commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has positioned Bangladesh on a trajectory to eliminate extreme poverty by 2031 and moderate poverty by 2041. However, despite these macro-level gains, deep-seated disparities persist, particularly among marginalized and vulnerable populations such as the rural poor, ethnic minorities, indigenous communities, tea garden workers, and women. The benefits of development often bypass these groups, perpetuating cycles of inequality, exclusion, and injustice.

In response to these pressing challenges, the Southern Charity Foundation (SCF) was established in 2015 under the visionary leadership of Dr. Abdullah Al Masud. SCF emerged as a transformative force driven by a passionate cadre of rural youth, with a mission to advance social justice, equity, and inclusive growth. SCF’s establishment reflects a bold response to Bangladesh’s most critical humanitarian and developmental needs, aligning its work with international frameworks and best practices in the humanitarian sector.

SCF is committed to the creation of an inclusive, democratic society free from poverty and exploitation. The organization’s mission is deeply rooted in principles of fairness, accountability, and social justice, with an unwavering focus on uplifting marginalized populations. As a non-profit organization, SCF operates with a clear strategic intent to address socio-economic inequalities and foster sustainable, rights-based development. By rectifying imbalances in Bangladesh’s development paradigm, SCF aims to contribute to broader humanitarian goals outlined by global commitments, including the SDGs.

SCF is strategically positioned to tackle the multifaceted challenges faced by underserved communities in Bangladesh, employing an integrated approach across several key areas.
