Disability Inclusion and Rights Advocacy Program
The Disability Inclusion and Rights Advocacy Program at the Southern Charity Foundation (SCF) demonstrates a resolute commitment to integrating individuals with disabilities into all aspects of society, particularly within the context of sustainable development. Recognizing that nearly 10% of the Bangladeshi population experiences some form of disability, SCF emphasizes the importance of disability inclusion across all development initiatives.
A key component of the program is the commitment to ensure that at least 10% of participants in all SCF programs have disabilities, alongside the goal that 3% of the workforce comprises persons with disabilities. This strategic approach underscores SCF’s dedication to fostering an environment where every individual, regardless of physical or mental abilities, can thrive and contribute.
The program prioritizes creating accessible infrastructure, ensuring that facilities and services are designed to accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities. Emphasizing areas such as education, employment, and essential support services, SCF empowers individuals to lead fulfilling and active lives.
Strategic Goals and Impact
To date, the Disability Inclusion and Rights Advocacy Program has successfully raised awareness among 23,870 individuals. SCF’s 2028 strategic plan aims to mainstream and empower at least 5,000 individuals with disabilities, aligning with a broader vision of equity, inclusivity, and accessibility. This initiative aspires to create a society where no one is left behind.
Rooted in the belief that every person deserves the right to participate fully in society with dignity and respect, SCF’s program aims to build a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
