Gender Equality and Empowerment Initiative
Southern Charity Foundation (SCF) is committed to advocating for the protection and empowerment of individuals, with a specific focus on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and the promotion of gender equality through its Gender Equality and Empowerment Initiative. This initiative is a critical component of SCF’s broader Policy Advocacy for Sustainable Change program, which aims to create inclusive, equitable environments through awareness and strategic interventions.
Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Policy
At the heart of SCF’s gender advocacy is the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy. This policy is integral to SCF’s operations and seeks to ensure that everyone—whether in SCF’s care or employed by SCF—has the right to live free from any form of sexual exploitation or abuse. The PSEA policy applies universally to all SCF personnel, national and international, and is anchored in SCF’s “Inclusive and For All (IFA)” approach.
The IFA framework highlights that safeguarding is a collective responsibility, establishing high standards for ethical behavior through SCF’s Code of Conduct. These guidelines set clear expectations for the prevention of exploitation and abuse, ensuring that every individual affiliated with SCF adheres to principles of accountability, transparency, and integrity.
Gender Mainstreaming and Strategic Program Implementation
Beyond the PSEA policy, SCF actively promotes gender mainstreaming in all aspects of its programs and operations. Gender perspectives are integrated into the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation stages of all SCF initiatives. Through awareness campaigns, training, and strategic program implementation, SCF ensures that both women and men participate equitably and benefit equally from development programs.
This holistic approach encourages gender sensitivity across SCF’s diverse programs, empowering marginalized individuals, particularly women, to have a voice in shaping the decisions that affect their lives.
Impact and Reach
To date, SCF’s advocacy efforts on GBV prevention and gender mainstreaming have reached 67,580 individuals. These efforts have led to meaningful strides toward building safer, more inclusive communities where individuals, regardless of gender, can live free from abuse and discrimination.
Through its Policy Advocacy for Sustainable Change, SCF continues to drive significant progress in promoting gender equality, safeguarding vulnerable populations, and fostering sustainable empowerment across all levels of society.
