Livestock Distribution for Sustainable Agriculture

Agriculture is a critical sector in Bangladesh, contributing 12% of the country’s GDP and engaging 65% of the rural population in various agricultural activities. However, the impacts of climate change and an increasing number of climate refugees have left many farmers landless, forcing them to seek shelter on khas land (government-owned land). These displaced farmers often face significant challenges in securing a stable livelihood.

In response to these pressing issues, the Southern Charity Foundation (SCF) has initiated the Livestock Distribution for Sustainable Agriculture program. This initiative aims to support vulnerable communities by providing them with livestock. So far, SCF has distributed 50 cows and goats across 50 small communities, positively impacting the lives of over 250 individuals.

By supplying livestock, SCF not only provides these families with a sustainable source of income but also promotes long-term economic independence. This initiative is instrumental in building resilience against the socio-economic and environmental challenges faced by these communities, helping them to achieve stability and self-sufficiency in the face of adversity.

Through targeted support like this, SCF is dedicated to fostering sustainable agricultural practices and empowering families to thrive despite the challenges posed by climate change.
